AuntMinnie.com, in conjunction with Voxmedia, LLC, have teamed together to provide continuing medical education (CME) credit for physicians and other healthcare professionals. Each course integrates knowledge, imagery, and dynamic interaction to enhance learning via the Internet for medical imaging professionals and those that support medical imaging professionals. Each course delivers choreographed, interactive knowledge to simulate real-time interaction with a radiologic expert. There are built-in mechanisms for assessment, certification, and credentialing of course participants. If you are a physician, sonographer, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse (depending on the nurse certifying body), you can earn continuing education credit.
Mission Statement

The Purpose of Voxmedia’s CME Program is to disseminate dynamic, fair-balanced, and independent continuing educational activities to physicians and other health professionals using modalities that suit the demographics of the target audience. Voxmedia’s CME Program is intended to enhance physician clinical decision-making and, ultimately, positively influence patient outcomes.

The Target Audiences for continuing educational activities include primary care and specialty care physicians corresponding to identified gaps in clinical decision-making and/or gaps in clinical practice.

Expected Results

Voxmedia utilizes pre-testing to assess the knowledge, competence and clinical decision-making / performance of participants prior to entering the educational setting. During live education, audience response and interaction is sought via interactive questions, case-studies and assessments. Subsequently, faculty address the gaps in knowledge, competence and clinical decision-making that become apparent via both didactic presentation and interactive learning (self-assessment, case presentations). In addition, Voxmedia’s CME Program is intended to enhance physician clinical performance and, ultimately, to positively influence patient outcomes. This may be accomplished by attempting to achieve the following goals: The Goals of the Voxmedia CME Program are to:

  • Consistently frame needs assessment in light of current clinical practice versus ideal clinical practice as published in therapeutic and/or specialty guidelines.
  • Consistently utilize self-assessments, questionnaires, interactive case-studies, pre-tests and evaluations to determine the impact the education had on both the ‘knowledge’ of the participant; and utilize post-testing and take-home case completions to assess the impact that the initiative had on the ‘clinical decision-making/clinical practice’ of the participant.
  • Consistently measure the clinical impact (Results) of the activity by analyzing differences in current clinical practice (as identified during the pre-registration process) and consequently comparing the data with clinical practice up to three months after the activity in relation to published therapeutic guidelines.

Statement of Need

Continuing medical education is an essential part of any field of medicine. Health imaging is no different and with millions of procedures conducted annually, the need for healthcare professionals to be up-to-date on the latest technology and diagnosis remains critical. Technology continues to improve and with it, improved patient outcomes, lower healthcare costs and better overall efficiency and quality of the healthcare system. The ability for a radiologist to identify a variety of clinical manifestations of a diagnosis, enabling a proper diagnosis, is critical in patient care. This CME offers an educational forum for assessment of medical knowledge in addition to exploring all the imaging modalities and discussing key points of each diagnosis to enable learners to refine their knowledge.

Overall Learning Objectives
  1. Explain why the featured patient presented with the stated history.
  2. Describe the radiographic findings for the diagnosis.
  3. Give a differential diagnosis for the radiographic findings.
  4. Discuss key points of the diagnosis.
  5. Enumerate other clinical manifestations of the diagnosis.
  6. Describe the clinical significance of the diagnosis in the context of the patient's presentation.
  7. Describe the natural course of the diagnosis.
  8. Correlate the multimodality findings that are associated with the diagnosis for this exercise.
